Bridleless Riding – Achieving emotional intelligence
Bridleless riding takes a high degree of alignment, physically, mentally and emotionally especially when jumping and horses have elevated energy.
Being able to adjust our emotional state quickly into calmness and clarity is a great skill to develop for helping our horses be able to cope with different situations.
When we are in the more negative type emotions like this example of grief, horses can help to sooth if it’s in their environment but when we have to ride it’s important we shift our emotions back to neutral. To help create positive energy and harmony while riding.
Steps to do this:
💜 Self awareness of state of emotions
💜 Focus on present moment
💜 Recognise the shift state
💜 Maintain the shift state – this can be the hardest part and takes time to build the awareness and stability of this.
By having self mastery over our emotions we can achieve a high level of connection with our horses to then allow amazing results in all aspects of riding whether at competitions or just pure enjoyment. Emotional intelligence is key to staying grounded in situations beyond our control and can help us maintain a positive space for our horses.
