Reined Cow Horse: Renowned as the most thrilling western event to watch and used to define the world’s greatest horseman challenge. The premier event of Australian Ranch Horse.

You will have the opportunity to watch world-class level compete as part of six top riders showing Australia the thrill of this sport. A sport that is addictive to those who own the horses and the professional trainers who train them.

Book your tickets, and you will be on the edge of your seat as you watch these champions go “Down the Fence” as we show you two phases of the three-phase event. You will see the grit and stopping power of a working reining horse and the cattle sense and talent of a rider as they work through the exhilarating down the fence phase.

You will watch four remarkable Australians who have successfully competed on the world stage:

  • Roy Marchinton, professional trainer, winner of the European Reined Cow Horse Masters and many other championship titles.
  • Wayne Hinder, professional trainer, the highest money earning Australian in the NRCHA, making the finals at the USA NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity, Derby Stakes and Hackamore Classic.
  • Rob Leach, professional trainer, winning and making the finals at multiple USA reined cow horse aged events, including a World Championship at the NRCHA Snafflebit Futurity.
  • Peter Rogen, non-professional, will be riding his mare Shirley Shiney, who has just arrived in Australia from successfully competing in four go-rounds of the 2017 NRCHA Snaffle Bit Futurity in Fort Worth Texas.

A line up of this standard has not been seen Australia before.

You will watch a young lady who will take on these champions as she demonstrates incredible talent, grit and skill and she will definitely give these guys a run for their money! Young gun, Aaron Scobie is out to go Down the Fence and set his place amongst the Masters.

Australian Ranch Horse is proud to showcase this event at Equitana. You may get a chance to meet these champions at our stand.

About

The ranch horse events are run both in and outside the arena; classes are designed to show the versatility of the horse and the quiet skill of the horseman, based on the respectful training methods of the vaquero.

Ranch Horse is attracting families with youth and amateur owners competing and winning buckles and prizes, through to those vying to demonstrate their skill in the reined cow horse.

People are drawn to the natural look as the horse and rider respect the vaquero in their dress code. It is a sport that welcomes breed and unregistered horses with the common interest of people that enjoy good horsemanship.

Come and watch these horses as they show their talents in the ranch riding, trail, and reining disciplines to vie for the title of Australian Ranch Horse. Youth, Amateur Owner and Open riders will be competing in their divisions.
