DR. ANDREW MC LEAN, KATHLEEN KINDLER & RACHAEL EDWARDS
Andrew McLean is a pivotal figure in the integration of Equitation Science into Pony Club Australia’s curriculum. As the CEO of Equitation Science International and current Patron of Pony Club Australia, he has played a crucial role in developing a new syllabus that emphasizes evidence-based and ethical training methods. This approach focuses on understanding equine behaviour, learning theory, and biomechanics to ensure rider safety and horse welfare. His contributions have helped reshape Pony Club in Australia, making it a leading example of modern equestrian education.
Kathleen Kindler and Rachael Edwards are prominent within Pony Club Victoria. Kathleen, with over 30 years of involvement in Pony Club, serves as the Program Officer at Pony Club Victoria and is a Pony Club Australia Level 1 coach. Rachael, the North Metro Zone Chief Instructor, has been recognized as Coach of the Year by both Pony Club Australia and Victoria. In 2023, they teamed up to deliver an educational session at EQUITANA, focusing on foundational responses under saddle for beginner riders. Their collaboration continues as they promote the discipline of ‘Quiz’ in pony club, a new and inclusive activity that allows participation with or without a horse.

Interactive Pony Club activities & quiz
Kathleen and Rachael join forces to showcase the pony club discipline ‘Quiz’. Both Kathleen and Rachael are passionate about equestrians’ finding the perfect discipline/pathway for them. Quiz is a relatively new discipline that people with or without a horse can participate in.
