Sue Williams
Sport / Training
I am a Clinician and was an AQHA Board Member for over 12 years, during which time I held the position of Vice-President, Youth Convenor, International Director, Show & Performance Convenor and Judging Convenor. I have judged in every state of Australia as well as New Caledonia, New Zealand and Canada. As a Professional Horse Trainer I have achieved numerous State and National Titles in a variety of Western & English.
I have been fortunate enough to train and successfully show many open, youth and amateur horses to State and National titles. Including outstanding horses such as “Beggars Deal”, “Greenhill Decked in Chrome”, “Yulgibar Quick Silver”, “Yulgibar Miss Chick”, “Yulgibar Master Chick” & “Yulgibar Rosita”
I competed from 1978 in Victoria and am still successfully competing in Ranch events.
During Covid, I established a YouTube presence, working on training from home with some video’s achieving over 24,000 views. From here, I started conducting clinics Australia wide, which have proven highly sought after and extremely popular.
I established the Ranch Horse Association in October 2022 and hold the President position.

Ranch Riding – involvement and requirements
Ranch Riding is reasonably new to this country and it’s popularity and interest is taking Australia by storm. As President of the Ranch Horse Association of Australia, which was formed in October, 2022, we have seen exponential growth, having close to 380 memberships within our first 10 months.
During this presentation, I will touch on the history of Ranch Riding. How and when it started in the USA and subsequently moved to Australia. The requirements sought by horse and rider. The ranch horse should be attentive to its surroundings, display forward movement in it’s working gaits and be ridden with light contact, I will discuss the movement and cadence preferred.
